Writing these posts is such a good exercise, particularly in these late stages of pregnancy when my memory is shot and I often think back on the previous month and can’t recall one thing that happened! It turns out, February was pretty busy for us. We are now almost exactly one month out from baby #2’s due date, so we spent this past month enjoying time with friends, but also starting to get our ducks in a row with baby prep.
We finally finished turning the basement into Chloe’s playroom and she is obsessed with the space. It’s also allowed us to move more of her toys down there, making room in her room for what will eventually be another crib and some general reorganization to adapt the space for a toddler and a baby. Fortunately, the baby will be in our room for a few months, so the transition can be slower and gradual.
But Chloe’s baby obsession continues and she talks about “baby sister” a lot. She got some more practice with a new baby when we went to go visit my friend Cora, her husband Kai and their little baby Iris in Brooklyn. Iris is about 4 months old, so she is a bit more sturdy and engaged, which was fun for Chloe.

It’s so wild holding a small baby when I’m used to holding my big girl (who is still a baby to me)!
Some other highlights of this past month were:
- Building our first snowman with Daddy
- Trying our first Girl Scout Cookie (turns out Chloe is a Thin Mint fan)
- Getting bath bombs for Valentine’s Day
- A visit with Papa Greg & Wende

Another big first this month was getting Chloe her first “real” haircut. Up until this point, we’ve had her bangs trimmed (by professionals and Mommy), but the mullet was becoming really pronounced and I wanted to even her hair out more. I took her to my lovely stylist, Ashley, whom Chloe immediately hugged (I love how big her heart is!) She did an awesome job sitting still, and was generally awesome throughout the whole process. She also seemed to be a fan of the final result:

Rob went to Miami for a little boy’s trip to visit his best friend Jonny for his 40th birthday. So, I asked Granny to come for a girl’s weekend with me and Chlo. Needless to say, Chloe was thrilled to have Granny come to visit and I was thrilled to have an extra set of hands to help me out over the long weekend.

Some highlights from our weekend with Granny were:
- Taking the train into the city for the first time
- Going to FAO Schwartz to get baby sister a special gift (and, of course, a gift for Chloe)
- Playing with Granny and getting all the love and attention in the world

I wish my parents lived closer and could be with us more often, but when they come, they truly make the most of it, and nothing makes Chloe happier than visits with Granny and PopPop.
So, here we are, a week into March, and I am just soaking up this time as a family of 3. It feels all the more special knowing that things will change so soon! I am so excited to meet this little girl, who I can already tell is going to be a handful (if her constant movement is any indication), but I am also so excited to see Chloe become a big sister. She really is such a gentle soul and has the biggest heart. I know it won’t be completely smooth, but I am confident in her (and our) ability to adapt to the change and take everything in stride. Rob is a bit more anxious than I am, but I just remind him that this baby is coming regardless, so we might as well strap in for the ride!
