It’s been a busy couple of weeks at the Casa de Cannata. Chloe is recently obsessed with airplanes, so we’ve been taking lots of walks to look for them. However, often the best way to see them is to simply lay down and look up!

Always with Cheerios in hand, of course!
Fortunately for this airplane-loving kiddo, we got to fly on one to go to Texas to visit Granny and PopPop!

Chloe might be her happiest when she is with her grandparents. She gets to see them on the Portal several times a week, but it’s not quite the same as getting real snuggles from Granny and sharing toast with PopPop. It makes me so happy to see them together and I only wish she got to see them every day, but we are lucky that we can coordinate visits regularly.
We also got to see some friends and family. Chloe got to meet baby Maxwell, Chelsee & Matt’s sweet baby boy. He is only 4 months old and Chloe was completely smitten. She has baby fever and wants to see and touch every baby she comes across, so this was definitely a highlight of the trip for her (and me).

The matching outfits was just a happy accident!
We also got to see our Aunt Nene, Uncle Bob & cousins. Hazel was very excited to visit with Chloe and did such a good job showing Chloe her coloring books and toys. I always wish we got more time with family, but I’m so thankful that these girls get to play together and have a relationship.

We finally headed back home to see Daddy & Sophie. Unfortunately, Chloe somehow had a cold, despite not being in daycare for the week. So, it wasn’t the best flight, but we were lucky enough to sit next to another mom and toddler around Chloe’s age, who generously shared their stickers with Chloe, which provided a decent amount of entertainment.

I was so confused as to why she was putting the stickers on her ears and nose, but when I showed Rob this photo, he just laughed and said that he taught her to do that. Of course he did 🙂
When we got home, we commenced with operation No-More-Pacis. After the stair fiasco, the dentist put the fear of god in me about cutting her pacifier use immediately because her top two teeth were not fully descended.
Chloe loves her pacis and, while we only use them at night and for nap, they are really like a lovey for her. She hasn’t really attached to an actual lovey because the pacis are her source of comfort. So, needless to say, we had anxiety.
There are several schools of thought around how to get rid of the paci, but Chloe is a fairly adaptable child and is honestly too young for us to come up with some narrative around giving the paci away or the “Paci Fairy” coming to take them. So, we just took them out of her crib and told her they were all gone.
As you can imagine, she was not thrilled.
However, she’s done pretty well with the transition. There’s been some tears and she’s been more emotional when she wakes up in the morning, but I think we are over the hump after about a week! She has mentioned them a couple of times, but we just say they are “all gone” and she goes about her day.
Honestly, her ability to adapt to change and go with the flow is amazing. I am very much that way, but it’s still surprising to see it in such a small human. Now let’s just hope that all my children inherit that wonderful quality!
