Well, thanks to a case of Covid, the California trip never happened. I had to stay home, mask around everyone and skip all social engagements. Thankfully, I didn’t feel too terrible, but the hardest thing for me was having to mask around Chloe. Not being able to kiss those cheeks is truly a punishment. Fortunately, I was able to unmask just in time for Valentine’s Day, at which point, I smothered her in all the kisses.

With all my illnesses behind me, I was able to head out to my work trip to Colorado. It was a quick one – just a couple of days – and I was home on Friday. I feel like post-Covid, I’ve become much more co-dependent. As I sat in the airport waiting for my flight to leave for Colorado, I already missed Rob & Chloe. That being said, I really do appreciate the time to myself, even if it is a work trip.
This past weekend was a great one to be home for. The weather was starting to hint at spring and we got a lot of playtime with friends. We visited Alice, Sam & Bryn on Saturday morning. Bryn is getting to be pretty good on her feet, so Chloe can play with her a bit more. The ball pit was a huge hit, as was the little car that they pushed each other around in.

Monday was President’s Day, so we had the day off and spent some time with our friends Doug, Kerrie & Leo. Leo is about 6 months older than Chloe, so it’s fun to see them play together and get a peek at where Chloe will be by the time she is 2 years old this summer. We also have to fight the urge to reference their future nuptials, though I anticipate it will be something we push for as it would be really convenient for our friendship!

We ended the day with a nice walk. Chloe has all of the sudden been very into airplanes. When she hears them, she stops and says, “air-pane!” I assume this is something that she has picked up at daycare. I feel like these little discoveries are happening all the time, and it’s so fun to see. The other day, her Papa Greg came over for play time and asked her what her name was, and she answered, “Chloe!” That was a first, and I was so delighted. As her mother, I’m easily entertained by her, but it really is amazing to see a little human do or say something for the first time.
So, on that note, I’ll leave you with an “air-pane” sighting…
