Mommy is #1

If I’m being honest, one of the best parts about being a parent is that your child is obsessed with you. I hear this changes as their hormones kick in, but when they are little, you are #1. Or, I should say, mommy is #1.

Chloe is solidly in a “mommy phase” right now, and while I love it, it can definitely be challenging at times. For example, I tried to take a quick shower the other day while Rob was playing with Chloe. She sat outside the shower and cried hysterically until I finally relented and just put her in the shower with me. It was, after all, about to be her bath time anyway! I held her and watched her laugh as the water sprayed on her head and in her mouth, and hoped to God that she didn’t poop on me (we’ve had several bathtub poop incidents, so I was right to be nervous). She loved it and so did I! But I also would have loved to have a shower uninterrupted.

It’s also hard on Rob because he is a second-class citizen in Chloe’s world. If I am physically absent, she loves him and will play with him. But if I’m around, it’s no hugs for daddy, no kisses for daddy, and a fairly low tolerance for his presence overall. Oddly enough, when he isn’t around, she is constantly asking, “Daddy?” and wondering where he is. I tell him this to make him feel better, but I’m not sure it does the trick. I’m headed out on a couple of work trips next month, and I think that 1-1 time will be good for her. After all, she has a pretty fantastic daddy.

We have also entered the love of bubbles phase. I bought Chloe her first bubble bath and she is a huge fan.

I am also a huge fan, mainly because she often looks just like her PopPop when she does her bubble beard ❤
